Blanket Sun Album has been building studios since 2012, mostly across the south of France. We work from feasibility through to the first session: surveying the space, calculating isolation, drawing the volumes, running the site, wiring it and tuning it. The first question clients ask is about equipment, when it should be the last. A badly proportioned control room with a beautiful console produces poor mixes; a well-treated room with modest gear produces mixes that travel. The order of spending is almost always worth reversing.
You do not fix a badly drawn room in the mix. You only get used to it, which is worse.
